Downside is the speakers that are built in but all monitors pretty much have terrible ones lol. Right out of the box it was set to 3440x1440 165hz despite being labeled as 144hz and their site saying ocd it’s 165hz but I didn’t have to oc it. Save the money and you get 99% of the image!!! If you are curious as to what screen I’m referring to here’s a link I can only suggest 4k if it’s under 40in and has a refresh rate of 120hz+ but then again your talking big money in comparison and I do not feel it’s worth it and that’s coming from someone who has a 4k 120hz tv to compare directly. Go for it brother you won’t be disappointed at all. Again that’s on a 2080 super so if you have anything better than that your looking at 120+fps constantly on high 3440x1440p. Now as far as gaming performance goes I have not played anything but bf 2042 on it yet but it’s about a 15-20fps gain on average over 4k. I do how ever love that 165hz refresh rate. I have to say I am completely impressed by this resolution for computer monitors that I do not miss using my 4k tv one bit at all. Let’s just say it’s so minimal my wife can’t tell and the only reason why I can even tell at all is because I’ve only used 4k panels since 2016. Not sure if op purchased a screen but I can say for a while I was using a 4k 43in tv and just purchased a 34in ultra wide 3440x1440 and while it is a lower resolution it’s only ever so slightly less clear. The experience in those conditions will be worse and depwnding on how often and bad the drops happen you might be worse then a console that can run 30fps constantly in a game. Yes it does lower average with a smoother frame rate curve si way better then something stupid high average like 300 but with drops here and there to 40 fps. Witcher is a story game with pretty chill combat to say 70-80 fps is more then enough especially if it is stable (minimum fps beein close to the average like 55-60 at worst) combined with anti tearing tech it is pure eye candy. Better save some money or get a better pannel monitor then going for 240hz unless you are young 15-25 years old and actualy a competitive player especially in shooters or other twitch based games wich are the few people to actualy see and benefit from that number of frames. Yes the extras are there but also the price goes up bad. From 144hz there will be only a few that notice and even less will be able to tell if they are just casually gaming. Almost anyone will notice that jimp from 60. You could push a 70 series to but I admit here you need to dial a few of the candy to medium and that only aplies to games with decent optimisation.įrom 60 to 144hz is 140% straigt over increase. I would say anything 80 series or above and the equivalent can do that. Then there are old games that can now be ran at 4k unline 3-4 years when they were out. And if the game is highly optimized that will be a pice of cake for example doom can go 150easy maybe push 200hz at 4k. If you are ok with high/highest and nor uber ultra or something like that you certainly will run a current game at 120-144hz. What matter more is how tearing is handled so if you get a good monitor that has a good implementation of freesync or gysinc will matter more.Īs for games at 4k thag is nonsense there are quite a few games that can be ran at those fps it depends on if the games is well optimozed and if you do not want every stupid experimental and cutting edge dial switche on to 11. For example witcher is more then ok at 70-80 everything cranked to insane. And even that can be way more then required for a large portion of games.
